There is nothing quite like rocketing over the Japanese countryside via bullet train. We love it.
What is so surprising is that while it is such a great rush for visitors to Japan, many Japanese use it as a very “ordinary” thing. As if zipping at insane speed on rails through mountains and over the landscape is “ordinary”.
For our incentive travelers coming to Japan, we do love to give them a bullet train experience. The trains are precisely on time. As you stand on the platform the whistles and bells and announcements let you know that your train is coming.
And then it arrives. Sleek and long, like coming out of a dream.
All aboard! And do not hesitate. This train opens the doors, people file out, and you have seconds to get yourself on board before those doors close behind you. And even before you can sit down the train is already starting to move.
Find your seat and settle in. Take a moment. You are really here. Then you feel the speed. A truly new sensation.
And as your mind settles, it’s time to relax, and chat, and have a beer or wine or sake, and LUNCH!
A Shinkansen bullet train with an “eki-bento” (station lunch box that comes in a wide variety) will complete your true Japanese Shinkansen experience.
WHOOOOOSHHH!!!
